The New England J of Medicine has published a study that estimates 40% of doctors will leave the profession if Obomacare passes. Frankly, I don't believe it! There are certainly SOME doctors who are wealthy enough to retire. Certainly, many of those doctors will retire. That does not equal anything like 40% of American doctors.
The real disaster of Obamacare is that MANY people growing up in the future will decide not to be doctors. Doctors from other nations will stop emigrating to the U.S. And many who are now U.S. doctors will be very unhappy and retire as soon as they can afford to -- which, under Obamacare, may be never.
As to why Obamacare will devastate American medicine, you need only remember an old joke: A man dies and goes to heaven. On entering he sees a celestial being floating along in a white coat. "Who's that," he asks St Peter. "Oh, that's just God. He thinks he's a doctor" is the answer.
Well, the attitude that joke exemplifies is one reason people want to be doctors. But Obamacare will abolish all that. The respect now going to doctors (which is a form of benefit for being a doctor) will now go to the Obamacrats (death czars) who will be injected into the process to disapprove medical care for old people -- because they no longer pay much in taxes to support Obamacrats and they use a disproportoionate amount of medical care.
Under Obamacare there will be only two "learned professions:" Lawyers and bureaucrats. That is to say, people who create health and wealth will be replaced in public esteem by parasites.

Would I be able to cause someone go to medical school so as to enforce my "right" to health care? I doubt it.
